The Andhra Pradesh Medical Services Recruitment Board (APMSRB) has issued a notification inviting applications for 32 contract medical posts, split between 17 positions for paediatrician and 15 for consultant psychiatrist.
Unlike many government recruitment processes that require a written examination, candidates for these posts will be selected purely through an interview process, a route typically used by the board to fill specialist medical vacancies quickly given chronic shortages in these fields at government hospitals.
Selected candidates will be brought on as contract staff with a monthly pay in the range of Rs 1 lakh to Rs 1.1 lakh, according to the notification. The posts are aimed at strengthening paediatric and psychiatric care at public health facilities across the state, areas where officials have flagged persistent staffing gaps.
Interviews for the shortlisted candidates are scheduled for July 2, 2026. Eligible candidates holding the requisite postgraduate medical qualifications in paediatrics or psychiatry have been asked to apply through the process specified in the official notification.
The recruitment drive is part of a broader effort by the state's health authorities to address shortages of specialist doctors in government hospitals, particularly in departments serving children and patients with mental health needs, where vacancies have remained unfilled for extended periods in several districts.
