The Andhra Pradesh cabinet has cleared three new industrial projects worth a combined Rs 1,112 crore in the undivided Krishna district, giving a fresh push to manufacturing activity in the Jayanthipuram, Cheemalapadu and Mallavalli areas. The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting this week chaired by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
The three units add to a broader pattern of industrial clearances the state has been pushing through in recent months. The same cabinet sitting also took up a wide-ranging set of investment proposals routed through the Investment Promotion Board, spanning sectors from renewable energy to data centres, as the government works to convert a backlog of pending approvals into projects on the ground ahead of the next fiscal year.
Undivided Krishna district, which includes the NTR and Guntur splits carved out in recent years, has positioned itself as a logistics and manufacturing corridor because of its proximity to Vijayawada and the developing capital region at Amaravati. Industry officials in the area have pointed to road and rail connectivity, along with the Krishnapatnam and Machilipatnam port linkages, as reasons new units have gravitated toward the belt over the past two years.
State officials have not yet detailed a timeline for groundbreaking on the three new units or specified how many jobs they are expected to generate, details that typically follow in subsequent government orders. Local industry associations in Vijayawada have welcomed the move, saying additional manufacturing capacity in the district has been a long-standing demand as the region absorbs spillover investment from the capital build-out nearby.
