Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu joined yoga guru Baba Ramdev at a mass event at Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium in Vijayawada's Labbipet area to mark the 12th International Day of Yoga, held this year under the theme "Yoga for Healthy Ageing." The event was part of the state government's Yogandhra programme, a statewide push to popularise yoga across Andhra Pradesh.

Naidu, 76, took part in an extended session of asanas and pranayama breathing exercises guided by Ramdev, drawing attention for his fitness during the practice. Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan and Union minister Ram Mohan Naidu were among the other senior leaders who attended the celebrations in the capital region, along with large numbers of residents.

During the event, the state government announced plans to set up yoga centres in every village as part of a broader push toward preventive health and wellness, framing yoga as a low-cost tool for managing stress and supporting healthy ageing across age groups.

Similar Yogandhra events were held at venues across Andhra Pradesh through the day, with government officials, students and local communities taking part in coordinated sessions timed to sunrise.
